HISTORY
It all started on a December day in 1996. One Delhite working for one of India's leading IT companies gets a brainwave. ..in December? geez..that is the time when things freeze. Perhaps! He puts together a site in geocities with not too much information and plenty of pages showing under construction. He starts talking about it. He also talks to one of his friends, at that time in Singapore, about it (he has returned since). Delhite #2 sees the potential of the idea and what a site could become. Both appreciate that a site of the nature of delhigate.com is a necessity.

But will it bring in finances? It is going to take up resources, that is certain. #1 & #2 (which one is which?) decide to go along without a concern for money. They decide to make this a free site and always provide the basic service free of cost to travellers to Delhi.

Delhite in Singapore takes over the technical aspects of the site and starts construction, addition of material and adding functionality to the site. Slowly some interactivity comes in. Navigation becomes easier. Some graphics are introduced but kept low in order to keep the site readily accessible. And all the while people keep writing in, asking questions, utilising delhigate.com's services. This keeps the morale high and adds fuel to the fire.

Gradually the site takes form and takes shape. Perhaps, order emerges from Chaos. New pages are added, new services too. We also start winning awards, mentions in the press and heaps of accolades and pats on the back from visitors to the site. Later UNESCO picks up this web site as an information providing partner and Lonely Planet writes about us too.
